The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group sold 7.7 million vehicles in 2021
The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group sold 7.7 million light vehicles (VP+LCV) in 2021, down 0.9% compared to 2020. Compared to 2019, the group is down 23% because 2020 had been a particularly bad year.

Among the group's three entities, the Renault group is down 4.5% compared to 2020 (to 2.7 million vehicles) and loses more than one million units compared to 2019, the Nissan group is up 0.9% (to 4.06 million vehicles) but lost more than a million units compared to 2019, and finally Mitsubishi was up 12% (to 920,000 vehicles) but lost 330,000 units compared to 2019. In total, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group lost 117,000 vehicles in 2021 compared to 2020 and 2,500,000 vehicles compared to 2019. But the manufacturer, which remains the third largest manufacturer in the world behind Toyota and Volkswagen , indicated that profitability now comes before volumes, which may explain this drop in sales.

Global sales in 2021 of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group break down as follows:
§ Europe remains its largest market, with 1.92 million vehicles, or 25% of its global sales.
§ China is its second market, with 1.19 million vehicles, or 15% of its global sales.
§ The USA remains its third largest market, with 980,000 vehicles, or 13% of its global sales.
§ Japan is its fourth largest market, with 530,000 vehicles, or 7% of its global sales.

These four markets represent 60% of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group's global sales in 2021.
