Inovev forecasts 300,000 units a year (excluding China) for the Hyundai Santa Fe
- Hyundai presents the fourth generation of the Hyundai Santa Fe SUV (D segment), at the Geneva Motor Show 2018 , which replaces the previous model launched in 2012.
- This SUV is located in the Hyundai range between the Tucson and Grand Santa Fe. It competes with D segment SUVs such as Renault Koleos, VW Tiguan Allspace, Skoda Kodiaq, Seat Tarraco, Ford Edge, Peugeot 5008, Citroen C5 Aircross and Kia Sorento. Even if the production of the model is planned for 2018, the Santa Fe will be marketed only from 2020 in France, because the current generation of engine would be too penalized by the system of ecological malus to achieve sufficient sales.
- The engines announced for the new generation of the Santa Fe are: a 4-cylinder 2.4 petrol engine developing 186hp, and two 4-cylinder diesel engines 2.0 (179hp) and 2.2 (197hp).
- Unlike Honda, which is abandoning the diesel engine on the new CRV, Hyundai is keeping this type of engine on the Santa Fe.
- The new Santa Fe, which is available in five-seat or seven-seat versions, will be produced, as previously, on the Korean site of Ulsan and on the American site of West Point (Georgia). It should also be manufactured in China at the Rongcheng site. Inovev expects a production volume of 300,000 units per year without China.

Inovev forecasts production of 2,500 AMG GT Sedan per year
- At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes presents the 4-door version of the AMG GT which up until now has only been available in coupe and cabriolet versions, and has sold 18,000 units since 2014 (4,500 units per year).
- This new model, derived from the new Mercedes CLS with which it competes, is one of the fastest sedans in the world (300 km / h). The AMG GT 4-door rivals the Porsche Panamera, Maserati Quattroporte and Aston-Martin Virage.
- Next year BMW will launch an 8 Series Gran Coupe capable of competing with the new AMG GT sedan. They have also presented a concept car, anticipating this Series 8 Gran Coupe, at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
- The new AMG GT 4-door will be marketed as of the summer 2018, mainly in Europe, China and the United States. However, because of its selling price (which should be very high), Inovev does not expect significant sales volumes. Inovev forecasts sales volumes of 2,500 units per year of the new AMG GT 4-door, a volume 10 times less than that of the Mercedes CLS which will be less expensive and less powerful and therefore less exclusive.
- The engines announced on the AMG GT 4 doors are: a 6cylinder gasoline 3.0 developing 320hp and a V8 petrol 4.0 developing 430hp and 470 hp.

Inovev forecasts production of 70,000 Lexus UX per year
- Lexus presents the UX SUV that follows upon the CT saloon that does not seem to have met the manufacturer's goals.
- Replacing a sedan with an SUV is not an absurd idea as the sedan is losing market share to the growth of SUVs, which today represent one in three sales in most major markets.
- This segment C SUV is the third SUV marketed by the Lexus brand, after the RX (E segment) and the NX (D segment). It is based on the TNGA platform shared by the new Toyota Auris and the Toyota CHR, which is a big hit all over the world.
- In 2017, 300,000 CHR were sold worldwide, 130,000 of which were produced in Japan and 170,000 in Turkey.
- The new Lexus UX manufactured at the Japanese Tahara site is presented by Toyota as a premium version of the Toyota CHR, with the intention of extending the strong commercial performance of the CHR to the Lexus UX.
- The Lexus UX will be marketed at the end of 2018 in Japan and the USA then in 2019 in Europe. It will be equipped with a 4-cylinder petrol 2.0 168 hp engine and a 4-cylinder hybrid petrol-electric 2.0 176hp engine. It is unfortunate that this model (like all Lexus models) is not available in a plug-in hybrid version.
- Inovev forecasts production of 70,000 units per year for the new Lexus UX.

Inovev forecasts 20,000 Kona Electric per year
- Hyundai intends to be present in all markets. After its hybrid vehicles (Ioniq, Sonata) and fuel cell (ix35 and Nexo), the Korean brand is attacking the market for 100% electric vehicles with the Kona Electric B segment SUV. Derived from the thermal Kona which has been on the market for several months, the Kona Electric will offer two different engines:
1. a basic version with a 136hp electric motor powered by a battery of 39.2 kWh, for an announced range of 312 km (NEDC).
2. a more upscale version with a 204hp motor powered by a battery of 64 kWh, for a range of 482 km (NEDC).
- These engines are more powerful than that used on the Kia Soul (another segment B SUV) whose power does not exceed 110hp. The Hyundai Kona Electric will be produced in the Korean factory of Ulsan and will be marketed from summer 2018 in Europe. Inovev expects 20,000 units per year, while 100,000 units are expected for the Kona Thermal.
- In 2017, the Hyundai Kona Thermal has sold 7,000 units in Europe ( 3 months of sales ) and 23,000 units in Korea (6 months of sales ), for a total of 30,000 units. The figures for January 2018 are in line with Inovev forecasts: 4,500 in Europe and 3,500 in Korea, i.e. the equivalent of 96,000 units for the whole year.

Volvo XC40 voted Car of the Year 2018

Volvo XC40 voted Car of the Year 2018
- After the election of the Peugeot 3008 SUV in 2017, a SUV wins the Car of the Year award again in 2018, i.e. the Volvo XC40, which like the Peugeot 3008 is a C-segment SUV.
- The Volvo XC40 won the title with 325 points, ahead of the Seat Ibiza (242 points) and the BMW 5 Series (226 points). This is the first time the Volvo brand has won this title, and indirectly this is also a first time award for the Chinese OEM Geely, owner of Volvo Cars, and very dynamic in recent months.
- The XC40 is the second SUV to be awarded since the trophy was first awarded in 1964. The 58 journalists who elect the Car of the Year thus reflect the automotive market by awarding SUVs two years in a row, as these models currently represent one in three sales in most major markets. What's more, C-segment SUVs account for the majority of SUVs sold in Europe and China. Only the United States still buys larger SUVs, relegating these models to the D and E segments.
- Inovev has released an analysis for the Volvo XC40 (published on October 16, 2017). This SUV is the first Volvo model to use the CMA platform developed jointly by Volvo and Geely for all models in the C segment group. Inovev forcasts an annual volume of 50,000 XC40 manufactured in Gent, not counting the units that will be manufactured in China.
