Alfa-Romeo will not renew Mito et Giulietta
Although the management of FCA announced in 2014 that, thanks to the renewal and the extension of the range of the brand, it would  sell 400,000 Alfa Romeos per year  as of  2018,, in recent months  the ambitions of the manufacturer have been revised significantly downwards. The new Giulia sedan has difficulty in  the D segment  premium category (only 10,000 sales in 2016) and its sales in the US market could be compromised by the Trump administration's intention to tax imported vehicles . The break version of the Giulia will finally not be launched. In addition, the Mito (segment B) and Giulietta (segment C), which account for the bulk of sales, will not be replaced.

The future of the brand is based on the recently launched Stelvio SUV (Giulia platform) and a hypothetical launch in 2019 of E-segment models, the Alfetta sedan and the Alfetta-based SUV. These high-end models will be launched only  if  Giulia  sales  meet the manufacturer’s  expectations , which does not seem to be the case today.

With the planned cancellation of the Mito and Giulietta, it seems that the launch of a  C segment SUV is compromised. Finally, the launch of a sports coupe derived from the Giulia is  also  in question. In conclusion, Alfa-Romeo will certainly not sell 400,000 cars in 2018 or even in  the following years. Inovev expects 130,000 sales in 2018 and not much more in subsequent years. Ultimately, Alfa ,like Lancia , seems doomed.

The Most Produced Car in the World in 2016
The most produced car in the world in 2016 is also the most produced car in the United States in 2016, as it is the  Ford F-Series  large pick-up (1,012,000 units of which 990,000 sold) It consists in fact of two models of different sizes: the F-Series itself or F150 (695,000 units produced) and the Super Duty F-Series or F250 / 350/450/550/650/750 (317,000 units produced). The F Series is in its thirteenth generation.

The Ford F-Series is the best-selling vehicle in the United States since 1978 and the most sold in the world since 1983. It is unique in that it is only built in the  United States, in the Detroit area (Dearborn ). It is one of the rare models not to have been relocated ,since its birth in 1948 ,from the industrial center of Detroit, which, until the 1970s , was  the largest automotive manufacturing.  pole in the world .Since that time, the Detroit industrial pole has lost a lot of its grandeur  , but the Ford F-Series continues to be manufactured there without interruption.

The Ford F-Series has two major competitors: the Chevrolet Silverado (657,000 units of which 655,000 sold) and the Dodge Ram (614,000 units of which 595,000 sold). These two models have never managed to challenge the leading position of the Ford F-Series that remains and will remain a crucial model for the Ford Group (F-Series now accounts for more than 15% of the manufacturer's total sales).

South Africa Automotive Market (PC+LCV) in 2016
- The South African car market (PC + LCV)  is  very cyclical. After increasing between 2003 and 2006, it began to decline in 2007, and this decline increased in 2008 and 2009. After increasing between 2010 and 2013, it began to decline in 2014, increasingly so  in 2015, and even more so in 2016. Total sales  dropped to 550,000 units last year (-11%), compared to 650,000 units in 2013. In fact, this market has never managed to exceed its record level of 2006.

- Most manufacturers saw their sales slump in 2016, except for Mazda, which saw its sales rise. Toyota  remains  leader in the  South African market (117,000 units , -4.9%) ahead of Volkswagen (92,000 units , -11.4%), Ford (74,000 units , -5.9%), Renault- Nissan (60,000 units, -12%), Hyundai-Kia (53,000 units , -8%). These five locally-producing  manufacturers account for 74% of the South African market (22% for Toyota, 17% for Volkswagen, 14% for Ford, 11% for Renault-Nissan and 10% for Hyundai-Kia).

- The top ten models on the South African market in 2016 were the Toyota Hilux pick-up (35,000 units), Ford Ranger pick-up (32,000), VW Polo Vivo (29,000), VW Polo(23 000) Toyota Corolla  (17 000) Toyota Quantum (15,000), Toyota Etios (13,000), Nissan NP200 pick-up (13,000), Isuzu D-Max pick-up (12,000) and Chevrolet pick-up (12,000). Five pickups are therefore in the top 10 sales. The other five models are mainly B and C  segment sedans.
