The Jaguar I-Pace voted Car of the Year 2019
- After the election of the Peugeot 3008 SUV in 2017 and Volvo XC40 in 2018, another SUV won the election of the 2019 Car of the Year : the 100% electric Jaguar I-Pace, of which 9,000 units were sold last year worldwide.
- The Jaguar I-Pace (which achieves the brand's first victory as Car of the Year) won the title with 250 points, beating the Renault Alpine by 2 points. Next come the Kia Ceed, Peugeot 508, Citroën C5 Aircross, Mercedes Class A and Ford Focus. The Jaguar I-Pace was the British luxury brand's first electric model, but its high price (nearly 80,000 euros) confines it to a relatively limited distribution, while this model is in terms of technique and dimensions (4.68m long) at the level of the Tesla Model 3, which exceeded 150,000 sales volume in 2018.
- The Jaguar I-Pace (D segment) is produced at the Magna-Steyr site in Graz, Austria, alongside the Jaguar E-Pace, which is a lower range (C segment )SUV with an internal combustion engine The Jaguar I-Pace has a range of 415 kilometres in a WLTP cycle and a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The jury awarded the model's modernity, which combines 100% electric power, performance, elegance and sportiness, all wrapped in an SUV bodywork that is increasingly appreciated by customers all over the world.

Inovev plans 350,000 units per year for the new Peugeot 208
- The PSA group has unveiled the new generation of the Peugeot 208. This B-segment sedan remains the group's best-selling car, with 295,000 units sold worldwide in 2018 (compared with 325,000 in 2017), while the Peugeot 3008 did not exceed 265,000 units, the Citroën C3 255,000 units and the Opel Corsa 235,000 units.
- In 2018, the Peugeot 208 ranked sixth in the European market (230,000 units), but this model born in 2012 recorded a 6.0% decline in a stable European market. The new generation will have to boost sales of the model and get closer in terms of sales to the three stars of the B segment in Europe: Renault Clio, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta.
- Based on the CMP platform that is shared with the DS 3 Crossback, the new Peugeot 208 loses 30 kilos on the internal combustion engine versions. These are the 3 cylinder 1.2 L petrol 1.275 hp, 100 hp and 130 hp engines ,and the 4 cylinder 1.5l diesel 100 hp. But the big innovation is the 100% electric version that will compete with the Renault Zoé in the same segment. This e-208 delivers 136 hp and allows a range of 340km in WLTP cycle.
- The entire 208 range will be available from autumn 2019. It will be produced at the Slovak site in Trnava, but also in Morocco (Kenitra), Brazil (Porto Real) and Iran (Tehran) when the political situation permits.
- Inovev forecasts 350,000 sales worldwide of the new 208, including 250,000 units in Europe.

The PSA Poissy plant could double its production capacity by 2021

The PSA Poissy plant could double its production capacity by 2021
- The Poissy (France) plant ,which belongs to the PSA group since 1978, when PSA acquired Chrysler’s European subsidiaries, could become once again one of the manufacturer's most productive plants , along with Sochaux, Vigo and Saragossa.
- Indeed, despite the Peugeot 208's scheduled departure from the Poissy site to the Slovak site in Trnava (there were still 155,000 units of this model produced in 2018, compared with 117,000 in Trnava), the Poissy site will benefit not only from the launch of the DS 3 Crossback scheduled for spring 2019, the launch of the new Peugeot 2008 generation scheduled for spring 2020, and the launch of the new Opel Mokka generation scheduled for autumn 2020.
- Today, the Poissy plant produces the Citroën DS 3 and Peugeot 208, which should disappear at the end of 2019.
- The production volume at the Poissy site fell to 175,000 units in 2018, compared with 218,000 in 2017 and 222,000 in 2016.
- The plant's capacity is now 250,000 vehicles per year, which is half of what it was at the time of Chrysler France, but this capacity will be significantly increased if the introduction programme for the 2008 Peugeot and Opel Mokka is respected. Indeed, Inovev expects production of 100,000 DS 3 Crossbacks , 175,000 Peugeot 2008s and 150,000 Opel Mokkas, for a total of 425,000 vehicles per year. The capacity of the Poissy site should therefore be doubled by 2021, thus returning to the annual volume recorded in the 1970s under Chrysler's control.
