2019 Geneva MotorShow - Hyundai-Kia
Hyundai i10 II

Hyundai could introduce the new generation of its A-segment sedan, the i10, which is produced at the manufacturer's Turkish site, alongside the i20 B-segment sedan.

The i10 sedan is one of the A-segment sedans still available on the European market, like  the Fiat Panda, Renault Twingo, Peugeot 108, Citroen C1, Smart Forfour, Volkswagen Up, Seat Mii, Skoda Citigo, Ford Ka and Opel Karl, small 5-door models whose future remains uncertain, due to low volumes ,and low profitability.

The Hyundai i10 shares its platform with the Kia Picanto,  Hyundai and Kia being part of the same group.

Kia Soul Electric

Kia could introduce the new generation of its B-segment SUV, Soul  which will now only be available in its 100% electric version, which was a popular option on the previous generation.

This model is the counterpart of the Hyundai Kona Electric, which uses the same engine. Both models are manufactured in the same factory in South Korea.

At Hyundai-Kia, Soul completes the range of 100% electric cars, such as the Niro, Ioniq and Kona.

The Kia Soul has few competitors today, namely the Renault Zoe and Hyundai Kona Electric.

2019 Geneva MotorShow - Mazda
Mazda 3 III

Mazda could introduce the new generation of its C-segment sedan, the Mazda 3, which remains one of the two best-selling models of the brand.

But in the past two years, the Mazda 3 sales have dropped  significantly, from 450,000 units in 2016 to 350,000 in 2018, which decided the manufacturer to replace this model launched in 2013 with a new model with an avant-garde style, allowing the model to go out of  fashion very slowly.

Mazda still does not use hybrid and electric powertrains, despite the fact that the manufacturer had been a pioneer in rotary engine technology.

Mazda CX30

Mazda presents a new SUV that fits between the CX3 and the CX5, but curiously is called CX30, perhaps to formalize the future names of the SUV range of the Japanese manufacturer (CX20, CX30, CX40, CX50).

The new Mazda CX30 becomes a new competitor for the Nissan Qashqai (which will be renewed in 2020), but also for Renault Kadjar, Peugeot 3008, Opel Grandland or Citroen C5 Aircross.

The Mazda CX30 will be manufactured at the Japanese Hofu site, at a rate of 200,000 units per year according to Inovev.

The engines of the CX30 are taken from the CX3 and CX5.

Polestar 2

Polestar is a new brand of the Geely group, which is dedicated to 100% electric premium cars based on Volvo vehicles . While the Polestar 1 was a 100% electric coupé, the Polestar 2, which is present in Geneva, is a 100% electric 4-door sedan that could develop a power output of around 400 hp and claim a range of 500 kilometres. Its platform is based on the Volvo XC40.

2019 Geneva MotorShow - Renault-Nissan
Renault Clio V

Renault presents the new generation of the Clio. This model is crucial for the manufacturer because the Clio remains the Renault model most sold in France and the second most sold model in Europe. Although it has a very similar silhouette to the previous generation, the Clio V adopts a new body, that is a little shorter and lower, designed on a new platform, called CMF-B.

This new platform allows the new Clio to be equipped with a hybrid engine for the first time (it  will be launched in 2020).

The new Renault Clio should be produced mainly in Bursa (Turkey) and Novo Mesto (Slovenia). Inovev expects production volume of 400,000 Clio V units per year.
